Your strategy stays yours.

Foothold uses your saved decisions and the context you permit to help with your next question. This is private context for your work, not training a shared model. Other customers cannot use your private record as a source.

Strategies, uploaded documents, outcomes, and derived summaries stay within their access permissions. Your company’s material does not become a cross-company knowledge base. Personal context marked private is not shared with teammates.

Confidentiality does not guarantee exclusive ideas. Others may independently receive similar advice from public knowledge and their own circumstances.

Choose GPT from OpenAI (the default), Claude from Anthropic, or our experimental Gemini option from Google for writing and reasoning. All three use the same credit balance; credit usage depends on the task and model. Your chosen provider receives selected decision context, permitted history and selected file contents to generate a response.

Some tasks use dedicated services regardless of that choice: OpenAI handles public web search and voice dictation, and TypeSafe’s Jev receives selected context and relevance questions to help choose useful checks. Your saved decision history is held by Foothold’s storage providers.

When voice dictation is available, audio you choose to record is sent through Foothold to OpenAI’s commercial transcription API after you stop recording. We send the recording and your chosen language, without your conversation, profile, existing draft, or original filename. Foothold does not save or log the recording or the transcription request’s result. The returned text is an editable draft; dictation does not send the message for you.

Writing and reasoning use reviewed commercial APIs. OpenAI and Anthropic do not train on API inputs and outputs by default; Google’s paid Gemini terms exclude their use for product improvement. Consumer accounts and unreviewed free-tier configurations are not eligible. Availability depends on the reviewed account configuration.

No training does not mean no processing or no retention. Providers process readable inputs, and may retain content for service operation, safety, or legal obligations. We do not claim end-to-end encryption against the AI provider or universal zero retention.

Anthropic generally retains commercial API content for up to 30 days, subject to exceptions. OpenAI normally keeps API abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days, with exceptions and feature-specific storage. Google documents 55-day abuse-monitoring retention, possible human review, and limited use for policy-enforcement models. Disabling Gemini interaction storage does not remove that separate processing or establish paid-account status.

TypeSafe’s published terms prohibit training model weights on customer data without consent, while allowing telemetry, fraud prevention and legal processing. Its account-specific retention still needs confirmation; we do not claim zero retention for Jev.

Our primary database and production application functions run in Ireland, in the EU. AI, email, content delivery and other provider operations can involve processing outside the EEA. Foothold is not an EU-only service; names, email addresses and other personal data within your context can be processed internationally.

Our provider register explains what each service receives, where it processes information, when it is used, and which account-specific facts remain to be confirmed. It includes optional tools as well as the core application.

Foothold can look up a website or brand you name, using only its public name or domain. Sensitive sessions skip these automatic lookups. Broader research asks you to review the search topic first. Your surrounding conversation, profile and files are not sent to search. Search providers may retain queries under their own terms.

Searches may expand or rephrase the topic you approve. Remove sensitive details from that topic. Opening a source website also connects your browser to that site.

Foothold does not automatically search the public web from your private plan or profile. Generating a brief does not authorize new web searches. It may use research you have already saved.

Invitations and approved Slack excerpts share the material you select. Once sent to Slack, email, another AI app, or another person, it is also subject to that destination’s rules. Disconnecting a tool does not retract copies already delivered.

Foothold uses authenticated access controls and private file storage. The primary database and application functions are in Ireland. File-storage settings, backup locations and retention, and provider access are reviewed separately in our service register. Connections to Foothold use HTTPS.

Foothold’s operator and authorized infrastructure providers can have administrative access. We restrict use of that access to providing support, maintaining and securing the service, and legal obligations. We do not claim that staff or infrastructure operators are technically unable to access stored content.

New application error reports exclude raw messages, stack traces, and free-form context. Optional product analytics use a limited event vocabulary and exclude strategy text and full page URLs. With your consent, masked session recordings help us understand how the interface is used. Page text, form inputs, and element attributes are masked in your browser before transmission. Embedded media, network bodies, and console logs are excluded. Feedback you deliberately submit is visible to our operator; do not include a confidential strategy in general product feedback.

Your saved content remains until you remove it or your account is deleted, subject to the retention obligations in our privacy policy. Deletion may not immediately remove backup copies or material you already shared. We do not promise instant erasure from every system.

Our terms include confidentiality and restrictions on content reuse. Our privacy policy describes processing and your rights. Contact us about a company confidentiality agreement or data-processing documentation before sharing material that requires a separate agreement.

No service can promise that a breach is impossible. We do not claim an independent security certification or audit for Foothold on this page. A provider’s certification is not a certification of Foothold.
